This experiment kept some of the kids very quiet… while others got very excited!!
Even though some of the smarties went swimming in the water, the kids stil managed to eat them – eew!
The skittles experiment left some of our kids on a sugar high 🙂
Many of the colours we see around us are actually created by mixing together different colours.
1 packet smarties
several plastic plates
glass of water
1 teaspoon (or an eye dropper)
To find out which colours are mixed together to create the different colours on the smarties.
Sort your smarties into different colours.
Place a square of filter paper on each of your paper plates.
Bunch the different coloured smarties up in the middle of the plare – keep them flat but on top of the filter paper.
Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the smarties.
Turn them over so that the colour comes off and mixes with the water.
Watch as the colour separates and spreads out across the filter paper.
